6.8 Magnitude Earthquake in Myanmar

A shallow 7.0 magnitude earthquake (assessed as 6.8 in moment magnitude) struck Myanmar near the border with northern Thailand yesterday, so far the event is known to have killed at least 10 people. (Shanghai Daily)

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was just six miles deep.  And at that strength and depth, 600,000 people could have felt shaking anywhere from strong to violent. Buildings in the area are considered vulnerable so damage could be widespread.

This quake was foreshadowed by a significant hole in the solar corona. A formal watch was not produced for this hole.

I failed to log this disturbance mainly due to the time spent updating the site and dealing with the scape.  You can see the updates to the theory section of the site which is moving toward release of Version 1.0 of the site.
